HISTORY
• 1882: Foundation of " Usines et Fonderies de Baume et Marpent ", located in Baume (Wallon region) and in Marpent (North of France). Both companies are active in the sector of trains, wagons, and in the construction of bridges and small barges.
• 1924: The company " Werkhuizen Vanderstaeten“ is created as an independent entity at the present head office site in Boechout, Belgium. This company is active in the construction of small iron household appliances, some of which are also galvanized at the Boechout plant.
• 1941: Merger with Etablissement Thirion " transfering its name into "Verenigde werkhuizen van Boechout & Thirion.”
• 1962: Merger with Baume-Marpent initiated on request of the Belgian government in order to try to develop industrial activities in the Borinage. As from this moment, the company’s name is “Baume, Marpent & Thirion Verenigd”, abbreviated B.M.T. nv.
• 1992: Divestment of the galvanization department. The Special Components division is concentrated in Boechout.
• 1993: Acquisition of the metal sheet department of Atea and the integration of this department in Boechout
• 2004: Being a non-core business for the BMT group, the shareholders decide to sell the sheet metal production division to the actual management. BMTech is born and starts up a low cost production site in Vladeni /Iasi, Romania.
• 2008: BMTech acquires the mechanical part of the Special Components Division of Barco Manufacturing Services. The deal brings two additional production sites – one in Kortrijk Belgium, the other in Kladno, Czech Republic.
• 2011: BMTech sells the in 2008 acquired division to focus again on the core business: Sheet Metal.
